FAQ

  • When should I start my yuesao search?

The sooner, the better. Yuesaos are highly sought after, especially in the Southern California area, and they are often fully booked 6 to 8 months in advance. Starting your search well in advance of baby’s arrival means you will have the most room to be highly selective, combined with the most potential candidates to select from.

  • How much does a yuesao cost?

Please note that all yuesaos set their own rates –– these rates are not determined by MyAsianMama. Generally, the cost varies based on years of experience, additional qualifications, and location. Prices fluctuate with the market, however you can expect a general range of $8000 (for single babies) to $15,000 (for multiples) per month. There may be some wiggle room for negotiation, depending on your household. For example, if cleaning is already handled by your housekeepers.

  • What does a yuesao do?

Yuesaos take care of everything for you — all aspects of caring for you and for your new baby, all around the clock. They are live-in, as they must be present and at the ready to support. Activities include feeding, bathing, doing laundry, prepping bottles of breast milk and/or formula, and some light cleaning to help keep the house comfortable, well organized, and tidy.

  • Can yuesaos also cook for my family?

Absolutely! Many yuesaos are happy to cook for your loved ones as well. Kindly keep in mind that there will need to be another person minding the baby prior at the start of the food prep.

  • What do we need to provide for our yuesao?

A yuesao must have their own private area, however it’s fine if that private area is the room as the nursery. If there is not room in the nursery and there is not a spare room, you can cordon off a small area of the house for her. You will provide a bed, as well as small incidentals like items shampoo, conditioner, body wash, as well as groceries so that she can cook for herself (meat, vegetables, fruit, etc).

  • Which languages do yuesaos speak?

We specialize in Mandarin, Cantonese, and Taiwanese speakers. Candidates have varying degrees of English capabilities as well — we can filter based on this, in the case that your husband and/or in-laws are native English speakers.

  • Which languages do nannies speak?

We match nannies (both part-time and full-time) across many, many languages — beyond native English speakers and native Chinese speakers, we also have native French and Spanish speakers. For parents seeking second language acquisition, nannies offer full immersion care, speaking only their native language with your children.

  • How is insurance handled?

No worries, yuesaos are responsible for their own insurance policies.

  • Are nannies vaccinated for COVID-19?

All measures must be taken to protect the health of children, especially newborns. Nannies are fully vaccinated, with at least two shots via Pfizer or Moderna. Many have third or fourth boosters as well.

  • What is the MyAsianMama retainer?

The $58 nonrefundable retainer ensures we only work with people who are serious. Each application takes time and expertise, including:

    — Leading you through a 1:1 conversation to understand your needs and preferences
    — Creating a detailed profile of your ideal nanny and circulating via our selective base of candidates
    —Handling all meetings and communications
    — Serving as liaison to negotiate rates and reserve dates
    — Streamlining the end to end experience, as its an investment of both money — and time

  • How does MyAsianMama charge?

We offer two levels of service. For our matchmaking service, we charge a flat 10%.

For our concierge service, we charge a flat 18%. Kindly note that our white glove is much more time intensive and thus limited in availability.

This percentage is applied to the contractual rate with your nanny. For yuesaos, this is the total time you reserve (one month or more). For nannies, this is simply one month of annual compensation.
